Doesn't boot from CD!

#1 Post by MSKFAHIM » Wed Jan 06, 2016 10:00 am

I am trying to boot my laptop from a windows disc. It just wont do that. I went to the bios setting and changed boot order there. That didn't work. I went to Intel Boot Agent and it gave me 3 options. HDD, LAN and DVD drive. I selected the DVD drive one and it has no effect on anything. It just won't boot from the disc.

I tried booting from it using my brother's laptop and it seems to work fine. It boots up and gives me 2 option. One for installation and another for x64/x86 or whatever repair on a black screen.

It looks like your W520 is a Monday-morning lemon... :(

haha! It's booting now! YAY!

So it booted up and I picked the repair option instead of clean install and then this happened:

It probably tried to find stuff on the D drive (recovery partition) and failed. Why would it try to find them there? My OS was installed on the C drive. I am not sure what exists in my D drive as I tried to create a back up disc and it failed twice. The third time I remember trying, it gave me some error.

I am getting the feeling that manually backing up my files and doing a clean install with my current product key might be the only option I haven't explored for this [censored] issue.
