**SOLVED** HOTKEY Utility - Windows 10 - on unsupported machine
**SOLVED** HOTKEY Utility - Windows 10 - on unsupported machine
I experimentally upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 on an R60. After finding an acceptable graphics driver, I am pleasantly surprised with the results - so far. I am seeking some additional advice from the community to get HOTKEY / OSD working again.
I installed the Lenovo HOTKEY utility for Win10. It isn't officially supported for my machine. I was able to get the OSD to autostart (volume and screen dimmer keys) by manually adding TPONSCR.exe (ver. 6.6.8.0) to the registry:
(HKCU\SOFTWARE\..\..\Current\Version\Run)
Fn Hotkeys are not working, and I am unsure what other features I might be missing. I have the following executable files available in Program Files\Lenovo\ (although they are not presently being executed). I was wondering if anyone can advise what these files do before I experiment with adding any of them to the \run section of my registry:
TPOSD 8.6.1.0 (Is this an updated version of TPONSCR?)
TPOSDSVC 6.3.1.0
tpnf6, 8, and 9
shtcky 2.6.0.0
rmkbdppt 1.0.0.0
dfraddapp 1.0.1.0
dfrconfig 1.0.6.5
dfrctl 1.3.4.0
mkrmsg 1.1.1.0
Thanks!

Re: HOTKEY Utility - Windows 10 - on unsupported machine
Since I am running Win10 and the Win10 HotKey on an unsupported device, I am not surprised by the lack of responses.
However, if you are running Win10 on a ThinkPad, I believe you can assist me.
Simply open your Task Manager, and let me know which Hotkey / OSD processes are running as Background Processes on your device. At the present time, mine is running only 2:
TPONSCR and
TPOSDSVC
Thanks!

**SOLVED**
Thanks for the link to an earlier thread about this issue. Lots of helpful info there.
I uninstalled the Windows 10 OSD and Magnifier, and then installed an older Lenovo OSD version 3.81 (in Windows 7 compatibility mode). It all works now!

Re: **SOLVED** HOTKEY Utility - Windows 10 - on unsupported machine
I did that too last week with two machines. Both a T410 running Win7 and a T420 running Win10. I had to go back to V3.81 on both of them. It has been this way for a long time now, I have no idea why the newer OSD versions refuses to work.
