X220 Battery with 82 cycles *PIC*

#1 Post by VanZan » Tue Jan 12, 2016 12:52 pm

Found a second hand battery for €30. However it has 82 cycles on it. Could someone tell me if this is a lot for a Lenovo battery please? How much percentage capacity would be left on such a battery? Thanks.

Noone can tell you if it is ok or not. I did had an X61 Sony battery last year with 3 cycles on the counter - dead on arrival due to deep discharge. The battery was never used since factory formatting in 2008. On the other hand I do have another sony battery with 250+ recharges and it still show nearly 90% of its nominal capacity. It mainly depends how it was threated by an previous owner. Unfortunately as far as I know there's no Fairy on this forum, so I advice to ask the seller about detailed information - actual maximal capacity.

About the only way you will really know what you are getting is to have the seller give you the Power Manager battery details. For example, on the A31p I'm on right now:

Newer systems will have the same data but it's formatted differently. You can see that my battery has less than 200 cycles but it's almost 13 1/2 years old. Only 4.5Wh of capacity remains. About good enough to save and shutdown programs when the power fails if I can do it in two minutes :) .
