New ThinkPad T450S will automatically highlight/select the 2 characters surrounding the character I am typing on.

I just purchased a new ThinkPad T450S. All in all, it has been a great purchase. But for some reason, on Microsoft Word, as well as the computers control panel and internal system, whenever I try to navigate the cursor, or I am typing, the system will be highlighting at least 3 characters at all times.

For example, I am running windows 10. And If I am to begin typing in the "Search the web and Windows" field, instead a nice thin vertical line to display where my cursor is, I get a black square, that is highlighting the character I am currently typing, as well as the next 2 characters.

I have never seen anything like this before. I have clicked the "Insert" button, and that didn't do anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
