I've had a 1TB version die on me as in completely disappear on reboot, but that was with the older firmware than what's out there now. My preferred choice would still be SanDisk Extreme Pro.Are there any negative thoughts regarding...

Yes. There is a limit. The system can adress only up to 1.84467441×10^10 GB of data.robert213 wrote:Is there a maximum capacity of SSD for T61...running Windows 7 64-bit?

Exactly, 500 GB and 1 TB capacity SSD(s) are expensive. Before I spend that kind of money, I want to make sure that I've listened to everyone's thoughts.ajkula66 wrote:

It was my belief, that SAMSUNG 840/850 PRO (not EVO) was almost everyone's preferred choice. Currently, I am using 120 GB SAMSUNG 840 PRO(s) in all my Tuus-built T61 machines.
Unless someone else speaks up, I'll purchase the SanDisk Extreme Pro.
In case anyone is asking... "Why would you need so much storage?"
I am in the process of building a machine for making digitally recordings of my musical accompaniments for clarinet and alto saxophone.
Ableton Live - to make arrangements
https://www.ableton.com/en/live/
Native Instruments Komplete 10 - to manage instrument sound library (expecting to eventually require over 440 GB)
https://www.native-inst/products/komple ... mplete-10/
Avid Pro Tools, Steinberg Cubase, or ProSonus Studio One - to make digital recordings. I haven't arrived at a decision on any of these.

If this is 'only' for storing lots of data, why not look into an Enterprise HHD, such as http://www.ebay.com/itm/121798837025
2TB for ca. $350, a lot cheaper than SSD.

That is 15mm height though so probably can't use in most laptops.RealBlackStuff wrote:If this is 'only' for storing lots of data, why not look into an Enterprise HHD, such as http://www.ebay.com/itm/121798837025
