T41 Wireless Connection
T41 Wireless Connection
I have a T41 that I upgraded to windows 7. My ethernet allows networking however my wireless does not. The device manager under Other devices has ! by Network Controller and Unknown device. Under Network adapters it has Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection, which it says is working properly. I searched for wireless drivers but only found ones for Windows XP/2000.I need some help to get the wireless going, Please. Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
What's the full model number of that T41, located on the same sticker that holds the serial number and production date on the bottom of the machine, should be something along the lines of 237?-???

Re: T41 Wireless Connection
Doesn't exist, do you mean 2373-6U4 ?
T41 (2373-6U4) ex-factory looked like this:
Based on 2373-8RU: P M 1.6GHz, 512MB RAM, 40GB 5400rpm HDD, 14.1 XGA(1024X768) TFT LCD, 32MB ATI Radeon 7500, 24x-8x DVD, Wireless upgradeable, Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip(TCPA), 6 cell Li-Ion battery, WinXP Home
You may not even have a wifi card...
Remove the keyboard and try to check under the palmrest/touchpad if you can see the wifi card there.

Re: T41 Wireless Connection
You are correct about the model 2733-6U4 (66 year old eyes). It must have a wifi card, as I was using wifi when it had Windows XP.
Now running Windows 7 Pro. Also went to 50 GB HDD.

Nope, but most of us here have a life outside this forum as well, although judging by the number of posts one might come to a different conclusion when it comes to RBS and myself...nailhead wrote:I guess you guys gave up. Thanks
You have two choices:
1) Boot a "live" Linux CD/DVD/USB and see what the OS reports for a card and
2) Open up the machine and see what card is in it.
Good luck.

Re: T41 Wireless Connection
I had a similar issue with Z60m and Windows 7, could not make the wireless work - haven't used the machine enough to look.
My dad installed Windows 7 on a T42 and got everything working. There must be a solution but I don't know it, sorry. Maybe Intel has the drivers?

Re: (Solution?) T41 Wireless Connection
I solved my problem by installing the Z60m's Vista Intel Wireless Driver. "Intel Wireless LAN (11abgn, abg, bg) for Windows Vista - ThinkPad" at this link: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/product ... s/DS002150 The page states that this driver is for T41 as well.TPFanatic wrote:I had a similar issue with Z60m and Windows 7, could not make the wireless work - haven't used the machine enough to look.

" Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection" under Network Adapters is the Ethernet you used. If your computer is equipped with bluetooth, and if bluetooth is enabled, then the bluetooth drivers will appear under Network Adapters as well.
After I installed the Intel Wireless LAN driver my machine immediately picked up wireless and connected perfectly.
In my experience Vista (and even some XP, I had to use the XP audio driver to set up my Z60m's audio) drivers work with Windwos 7. Try it! I hope it solves your problem like it solved mine.

WIFI Card is Intel PRO/ Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter (rev 04)
Re: T41 Wireless Connection
Solved, I just thought I would post the solution for the benefit of those who don't know any more than I do about how to solve these sometimes simple problems. The problem was that something had caused my "windows update " to stop running. Once I solved that problem, my updater was able to find the correct driver and download it.
Simple, huh. I hope all your problems turn out well. Thanks
