Problem solved -- looks like I don't have a webcam installed :-o

Are you sure? Forgive the obvious, but it took me awhile to get it so this is more a reflection on me, not you - I just got my x220t last week, still on Win7, but the webcam was disabled to begin with, needed the Fn F6 to switch it on...
