Disc drive stopped working

The other night, when I was trying to read a CD, the drive just made a couple clicking sounds instead of reading the disc. I figured out what the problem was: The drive wouldn't spin evenly, and would spin slowly part-way, until it stopped. Today, it worked again, but it could stop at any moment until I find out what caused the problem. Is this normal behavior for disc drives? Should I be fine? Or? Thanks.

Since those are really throw-away items, I suggest you look for another drive.
They're cheap.
