Testing T410/T420 screen in X220 and vice versa?

#1 Post by rjwilmsi » Mon Apr 25, 2016 8:14 pm

I've acquired a range of part working and part broken ThinkPads. I intend to swap parts to create working machines for a project and resell any remaining spares.

To that end, screen testing: I will likely be in a situation that I have a dead laptop (won't power on) with a working screen, and only one of that laptop, want to test the screen. I'm talking about T410, X220, T420 models only, plus i variants. So all screens are LED TFT (no CCFL), though obviously different sizes and different aspect ratios. I know for example the T410 has a 1280x800 or 1440x900 resolution screen, so clearly these machines are not restricted to a single screen size. So, before I try, is anybody aware whether testing e.g. an X220 screen in a T410 or vice versa will work. I'm aware the screens won't fit in the bezel, lid won't close etc., I mean careful testing with the screen held loosely i.e. any electrical issues doing such testing?

Thanks
