Clean install Win10 to keep MS Office
Clean install Win10 to keep MS Office
My wife's T410 has adware that we are having trouble eradicating. I am contemplating using the reset option for Win10 but want to keep MS Office. The machine was bought directly from Lenovo with Win7 and MS Office installed. I do not have the recovery disks.

Thanks for the idea.
Yes, we ran those suggestions twice from malwaretips.
Also took it too a repair shop twice. Using Spyhunter and Reghunter by Enigma software. Paid for it. Seems to be finding a lot of crap.
The adware is liveadexchanger

Re: Clean install Win10 to keep MS Office
If you need to reinstall, you need a program that recovers the product key for office in case you need to reactivate. This is the one I use:

I've never done the Windows 10 reset option. I'm not sure it is the same as a clean install. It might preserve your software and just reinstall the system files. If it was one of the Thinkpads that came with Windows 7 and Office 10, there might still be installation files for Office. The installation files for bundled software are usually in the swtools folder on the C: drive.

Currently using: A W500, a W520, an X201T, an X220T, an X61T, a 14" T60P,a 15" UXGA T60P and a W700.
Currently idle: A spare W500, a spare X61T, a spare W700, a 14" T61, a 15" SXGA+ T60, a 14" T60, and my first Thinkpad, a 770X.

RBS, thank you again. I ran those at malwaretips a couple times but the problems came back after a few days. The Spyhunter and Reghunter software seems to have handled it.
MrB. Good advice thank you. It was Win7 with MS Off 10 installed by Lenovo. Will look into it.
