T60 won't sleep/won't work with docking station

#1 Post by Nigellus » Mon May 02, 2016 8:30 pm

I've had some significant problems with my T60 since I had to re-install the operating system.

It hasn't slept since then. I have my monitor timed to turn off after one minute, and my HD to turn off after three.

Nothing.

It also doesn't sleep when I close the lid.

This is annoying, but I didn't really worry about it because this isn't my primary machine anymore.

Well, now, I've decided I'd like to hook up my external monitor and start using it as a desktop replacement in my bedroom. Except that now it won't work with the docking station. It used to just fine. In fact, it served as my desktop for about a year in the past.

It docks. The speakers work through the dock. But the monitor won't. I'm wondering if it could be related to the above.

Is there a driver I forgot to re-install? I have the standard package.

Any help is appreciated.

Download, install, and run Lenovo System Update. I would check to make sure power management drivers are selected. If there are any other missing drivers, they should show up as well. Note that some software that are listed are optional as well.

Oh, I should have mentioned that this machine is not running Windows 7, which is apparently a problem for running Lenovo System Update :/

I'm installing the correct one, but it won't work properly. Any tricks? I tried the advice on the on Lenovo Knowledge Base, but no luck.

You can install all the relevant stuff w/o getting that Lenovo Upgrade programm.

Also; any bad contacts in the dock connector? Did you reboot? Outside dock, that is? My W520' dock had no working USB on it's dock some time ago. I took it off, rebooted, and put it back on; USB worked again.

I guess that's possible, I haven't used the dock in two years. But I have rebooted apart from the dock. No change.

2 years of gathering dust could cause quite some mayhem...

Clean the contacts with some compressed air.
