Cell phone ringtones

#1 Post by AlphaKilo470 » Fri Jun 10, 2005 2:30 am

Why is it that nowadays, you have to pay a subscription to even have the old convention chirp (remember the old phones from the mid 90's) ringtone? I spend well over an hour searching for that chirp ringtone (because the default pop and disco ringtones are nice but don't make you look good in front of the suits) and one or two rock ringtones. I just don't see why it's impossible to get this stuff, or wallpapers, there's another story, without giving your credit card info to some guy shadier than the homeles guy who hangs out outside my work.

Well, now I have that rant out of my system (somewhat), I'll stop this post here. If anyone knows of a good website that does not require subscriptions or credit number or if anyone else wants to rant about this, feel free to leave a reply.

I'll look at it but my phone (Samsung X105) was not listed on the compatible list.

For at work, I'm looking for something professional yet still has personality and isn't boring.

I'm also looking around for a couple of ringtones reminscent of 80's and early 90's video games (fast moving, eletric guitar involved, slight hint of techo, play any Megaman X game to catch the drift.)

Think how much nicer the world would be if everyone set their phones to "vibrate".... Plain rings are bad enough, these moronic tunes blasting out of phones are beyond the pale.

I hear you. My cell is always on silent mode with vibrate except when I am at home.

If people can stop talking to cell phones so loudly on public transport that would help too.

It's nice to have a ringtone for when you are at your desk or in your car or whatever and you don't want your bulky cell phone in your pocket so you put it on your desk or shelf or wahtever. Then at that point, since cell phones have the ability to let you change the ringtone, it's nice to have a ringtone you would like hearing. Not really about blasting out and showing off or anything. Just a mix of convenience and preference.

But will the people in the cubicles or offices around you like hearing it when you wander off leaving the phone on your desk to ring and ring and ring and then beep and beep and beep to let you know you have voicemail?

I'm all for ringtones - I have a V710 and change mine frequently. But in the office, my phone is set to vibrate only as a courtesy to my co-workers.

I can hear my cell vibrate just fine when it's on my desk. Never did try putting it on the shelf....

I am a fan individualized ring tones, just like I use my own pics for my desktop, etc. While I agree that many of the popular ringtones (radio hits, cheesy classical themes, etc) are annoying, I can appreciate creative, discrete rings.

Ditto on the tacky ringtones. My Samsung x475 (T-Mobile) has a lot of terrible ones. I just stick with the standard T-Mobile ring, or set it to just vibrate.
