T450s - What to do - Warning Pictures - Link

#1 Post by JohnD. » Tue Jun 14, 2016 8:45 pm

Hi Everyone,

I hope I am following the rules for posting pictures and/or links, since I have never posted images in postings.

So I have a T450s that I purchased from ebay and received the machine last Thursday. I have taken a few pictures of the damage to this unit, where the card reader filler (not sure what to call it) is pushed into the machine in one corner. Now, this does not effect the machine operation but it would be nice not to have this.

The machine has a Lenovo warranty and I don't know if they cover it (I don't think the unit has ADP). I can call and find out. Also, it looks like, that if I take the bottom off, I would have access to the filler card and be able to replace it. The seller, did not have pictures of the damage and does not take returns.

So if have any thoughts on this let me know.

Thank you for your help,
John

If the seller misrepresented something, did not mention the damage, and did not sell the machine "as is", then you can make a claim with eBay and they may force him to take it back, no matter what his policy is.

Not sure it's worth it, if it's the only issue. As always, I would try to straighten it out with the seller first. He may be willing to offer a partial reimbursement to offset the cost of whatever part you will have to replace. In parallel, inquire with Lenovo (although without ADP, I don't believe they would fix it, as it clearly looks the result of physical damage).

If that's only a piece of plastic, you could probably remove it and straighten it out with a hair dryer (after you remove the whole bottom).

Dear Dr_St and RBS,

Thank you for both responding to my post.

I sent a nice message to the seller, telling her about the issue and seeing what she can do for me. I did send her pictures of the damage along with the message. Also, told her that the machine has a warranty but I was not sure if Lenovo would cover this. I also told her that this machine, is a very clean machine (no marks, nothing). We will see what she can work out with me.

RBS, it does look like, if I remove the bottom, I will have access to the filler card. It does look like plastic just because of bending of it. It's a little strange since I am wondering how this issue occurred or what caused it. There are no marks around the card reader slot. Strange.

I will let you guys know what happens.

Thank you,
John
