T430s - 2x mPCIe?

#1 Post by dn » Thu Jun 16, 2016 11:34 am

Hi folks

My T430s came with a WLAN and a WWAN card in mPCIe slots and both had their separate antennae connected.

I acquired a mPCIe based eGPU solution and my initial install was in the WWAN port but it didn't seem to work. Eventually I tried it in the WLAN slot and it worked, and I switched the WLAN card into the old WWAN port and connected up the WLAN antenna.

My question is - are both mPCIe ports the same? I seen a post once that suggested that some ports are mPCIe connectors but they aren't PCIe, they use a USB bus and I'm thinking maybe my WWAN port is like this.

Can I test it somehow? Or is there something special I need to do to get the WLAN card working in the WWAN port?

Thanks!

I found the schematics for the x230, which should fairly close to the t430s,

google: https://www.google.com/search?q="x230.s ... =firefox-b

see if you can read it, or someone else can ?
