BIOS update necessary to run win95/98?

#1 Post by vwthink » Fri Jun 10, 2005 10:58 pm

Is it necessary to update the BIOS of a TP 760EL to be able to run Win95/98? I've tried installing both several times, only to have the machine lock up at the "Starting windows for the first time" screen. I have tried to install the BIOS update but it crashes/locks up at soon as you select either the Readme or Install Update option.

Win3.11 and DOS 6.22 work fine, but I really need this machine to run at least win95. Any help is appreciated.

First of all u need the newest bios update disk from Ibm. which is no longer available at IBM

Then u need to set ur bios to start from Intelligent, not standard and not Fast disk.

Then u insert the disk into the drive and restart the pc. Now it should work. It could fail if ur battery is not charged and will last at least 10 min.

I'm not so familiar with this model of urs:)

give a reply if it still soesn't work then I will pull another All nighter on finding the info:D This starting to be a habbit:D
