T60p FrankenPad - should I get one?
I use GNU/Linux (Fedora) and will be starting college next year. I would like this laptop that will last me for at the very least two years. I do web browsing and coding and that is about it. My budget is $1000 and am willing to pay for the best T60p frankenpad, but I don't know whether college will demand more from my system. Majoring in Physics.
The reason I want it is very simple. 4:3 screen ratio, great build quality, linux friendly. Might have to install windows. I had a T60p around 1 month ago and it was not slow at all. I loved it, but I wasn't sure how long it would last so...
I heard TuuS offers great T60p frankenpad kits but once again, want to know if it is worth it.

Read this for life-expectancy of FrankenPads: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=121345
I can build you a FrankenPad from a 15" T60 with a T61 motherboard with Intel (or nVidia) graphics, Sharp UXGA (1600x1200) screen with ASV (similar to IPS) and have it ready in a week to 10 days.
Over the years I have built plenty Frankies, so I have plenty experience.
PM me if interested.

Re: T60p FrankenPad - should I get one?
Thank you, RBS. I've been looking for that link for months as I'm interested in converting my aging T60p into a Frankenpad.

Does it drop right in or is a different cable required?RealBlackStuff wrote: Sharp UXGA (1600x1200) screen with ASV (similar to IPS)
Is LQ150U1LH22B the correct part number?
Edit: From RBS: LQ150U1LW22 or LQ150U1LW22N and NOT my guess above.
