Setting up bitlocker on new (reconditioned) T530

#1 Post by book193 » Wed Jun 29, 2016 1:43 am

I just bought a T530, 256 SSD GB HD,16 MEG RAM which works great and I checked with all the Lenovo mechanical systems tests and it came out 100%. It appears to be a 2013 model for it came out as still being under warranty with Lenovo for another few months. I upgraded it from Windows 7 to Windows 10 without problem. When I turned on the Bitlocker with the "new computer/begin now" setting, I expected the usual box to establish a password but this didn't occur.Instead I was asked to save the recovery key and printed two copies of this. Then I was told to restart the computer and did, hesitantly. Afterward it rebooted, everything went as normal, the computer stating that it was encrypting but I wasn't asked for the Bitlocker password upon rebooting as I had with another Windows 10 computer. There was initially a box stating that some operations are set by the systems administrator.

My question, if all this is clear, is: Can it be that the reconditioned computer, though a new Windows 7 OS had been installed, had in some way been locked onto some past Birlocker setting? When I twice turned on and off the Bitlocker and printed out the recovery keys there were two different ones. What happened to the password log-on set-up box?

Hope this is clear. Thanks to all.

Also, if the Bitlocker is unusable, how could I set up the hard drive password and BIOS passwords?
