T series express vs non-express

#1 Post by Nomad-Man » Sat Jun 11, 2005 3:06 pm

What exactly is the difference between a T-series....
Thinkpad Express vs just a regular thinkpad that is not listed as a express model?

Is the express machine made from lesser quality parts?

There is no physical difference between express and non-express machines as far as I know. I believe express models are made in greater quantities and kept in stock for quick delivery (someone correct me if I am wrong).
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Express machines are pre-configured and cannot be customized on the Lenovo site. As a result, they cost less than the non-express machines.

Some Express models come with only 1 year of warranty, beware when doing price comparison.

Yeah I noticed that, and that was the basis of my intial question.
Is the express machine made from lesser quality parts?
Made me think that because they only had a one year warranty that maybe the express models used lower quality parts.
But it sounds like it has to do more with customization and the express being more of a "ready to go" series..

Maybe bill could add something to the FAQ sticky.. on this for other people who are curious....

On another note.....
I believe express models are made in greater quantities and kept in stock for quick delivery
...

Wish this is true as the order status of my "express" model says...backorder!!!!....Ugh....

Thanks for the Input.

I don't think that's correct. All the express models I saw in Tabook are listed with International Warranty Service.

This is a do-it-yourself forum. Put it in the form of a question, gather up the answers and PM it to me. I'll add it.
