t41 won't boot

#1 Post by dg » Sat Jun 11, 2005 4:47 pm

After I tried running CheckDisk today, my month old t41 won't start Windows.

If I boot it normally, it says:
"a disk check has been scheduled ..."

but I then get
"Windows did not successfully restart"
and it takes me to the SafeMode selection screen

If I select Normal, I get back to the blue checkdisk screen, and so on in circles.

If I select SafeMode, it freezes at loading the agp440.sys file

(I did update the ATI Radeon 7500 driver via Windows update 3 days ago, to one dated Mar 05. Could this be the cause? Anyone else had problems with it? See MS kb324764 )

I tried rescue & recovery, but it didn't help.

IBM support is closed till Monday. What can I do? Grateful for any advice.
Danny

IBM support is closed until Monday? I'm pretty sure they have 24 hour a day, 7 days/week support.

Where in the world are you located? Edit: Hmm you are in the UK. I have no idea if UK support is 24/7 like it is in the US.
