Strange usb problem R61

#1 Post by Masi_K » Mon Jul 25, 2016 9:34 am

Hello. I have very strange any usb port "feature" on my 8932-fjg R61. Every pendrive, mouse and external HDD I have works on every port machine has. But connection to external rs232 adapter is bad. It kinda works only read "side". I could listen what ecu is sending for hours and hours, but when its time to send something bigger, it gets scrambled etc. I can not tell is how Tunerstudio software works and so on. But it works flawlessly through R61 bluetooth module. Few years ago I tried to use docking station and it's hard serial port didn't work at all. It was recognized okay, but no connection what so ever. Same docking station works nicely on different machine..

I narrowed the prob to machine side by testing same cable ect with T61 and with that it worked fine. Otherwise that T61 is unusable. I could use only bt to read/write data to ecu. But I drains laptop's battery fast.

Where to start fix ?

On ecu side usb adapter is found as FTDI and I have latest drivers installed.

Win10
Middleton Bios
SSD
Tunerstudio software
Megasquirt ECU
DLP-TXRX rs232 - usb module
Some chinese BT - rs232 module.

Go into the BIOS and under the IO or Config section there should be an option to enable or disable the serial port. Make sure it is enabled.

Try and install a Windows 8/8.1 serial driver in compatibility mode.

I contacted to the software maker. Let's see what they find.

It turns out that having two devices together in tx and rx lines is not recommended. Not even when not powered at same time.
