The biggest advantage of Bluetooth is communication to cell phones and PDAs. If you have a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone, you can use it as a modem for your laptop. Also, lots of PDAs have Bluetooth, so you can use that to communicate with them. Bluetooth is highly flexible and much lower power than Wi-Fi, hence it's popularity with small devices.

the T41 2373-9FU is the first PC i've owned that has built-in bluetooth capability. i was pleasantly surprised by BT's usefulness, (transmission) speed, and ease of setup (although it seems like some others on this forum haven't been as lucky with BT setup/config). i sync both a palm pda and a nokia phone with Outlook 2003 on my T41 through BT. It takes about 30 seconds to sync roughly 600 contacts and calendar entries on my phone! neato!

What about printing no one talks about printing. Wouldn't it be great to print wirelessly? Is it because I am a college student print papers regularly and looking forward to bluetooth on my new laptop in the fall so my desk won't be cluttered with a cord. It already has the ethernet and that is thick enough.

or plug in your printer to a wireless router if it has a ethernet jack

Agreed, I have a Netgear wireless router with a print server and it works great.

Get a Canon i80, their ultraportable model. They are really pricey ($250) and the ink cartridges are small, so you will also spend more money on ink. However, you can buy a Bluetooth kit for it and print wirelessly! So if you have money to spend, it's a really great solution if you want maximum mobility and minimal wires.
