Just Scored...

#1 Post by MikalE » Sat Aug 06, 2016 6:05 pm

An excellent condition Lenovo ThinkPad T510, 2.66GHz Core i7-M620, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Win 10 Home Prem.

I wanted to buy either a T500 or T510 with Windows 10 already installed so I didn't screw up one of my other T5XX machines.

This one has the i7 processor in it too. I didn't think that was even available in the T510.

I have 8 GB of RAM already on order for it. I don't know the machine type. I bought it before the seller could get back to me. The price at $160 with shipping included was too good to pass up.

I'm actually buying this as a learner computer for my shop when/if the Windows 10 problems start coming in. I need to learn this OS since I don't have any computers running it.

Nice combo! Win10 is pretty iffy on T500 and T520 specifically because Lenovo doesn't support their optional switchable graphics in 10, but T510s are Intel or Nvidia only, or just the early models were, or something like that. Congrats!

After I get the RAM installed it should give my T520 a run for its money. I have 16 GB in the T520 and a 500 SSD drive though, so I believe it still has the edge even over the T510 with the i7.

Do bear in mind that it's a dual-core i7, not a QC. Should be more than good enough for a lot of applications, though.

Oh yeah. The jump between 1st and 2nd generation Core CPU was quite noticeable. Arguably more significant than anything we've seen since then. Still, a properly set T510 is nothing to sneeze at.

Yes, I'm aware that it is only a dual core i7.

I was outbid on a W700 on e-Bay and this is a very nice consolation system. Except for the screen size, as that's why I was looking at the W700.
