I recently bought a superb T420s in which I installed 8 Gb of RAM (more to come quickly), an mSATA Kingston SSD (60 Gb) for the system, and a 500 Gb Hitachi hard drive for the data. With its i5-2520M, its flies and I'm very happy with it. It's my quickest laptop so far, and I've chosen to install a professional version of Windows 7 (I've the key with the machine) as I'm not fond of the more recent versions of Windows. I know a lot of tricks to make the OS blazingly fast. For example, when I cold boot, on the SSD, the boot time is between 11 and 13 seconds ! Wonderful. Very proud of what I've done !
I've read a lot on the Enhanced Experience 2.0, and I've discovered that the T420s is compatible with that. I know that EE 2.0 cannot be downloaded, as it's a modification of the Windows Kernel. I think that if I can use an ISO that includes and the EE modifications and my own modifications, the PC can be even quicker.
But despite the searches I've performed, I don't know how to find the Lenovo recovery media. As I have my own disks on the laptop, I can't access anymore to the partition which contains the image when we press the ThinkVantage key, and the ISOs don't seem to be downloadable on the Internet. Is there a tool I could use to make the DVD(s) myself ? As I've no problem to create my own DVD with the drivers I want, so I think I could use any ISO which includes the EE modifications. Has someone tried to install with a modified Lenovo ISO ?
Thanks a lot for your answers !
W.
