SOLD: Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds *RARE* Dual Screen Laptop Workstation

For sale is a Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds. This is an incredibly rare dual screen laptop.

The specification includes Intel Core2 Extreme QX9300 processor, NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M graphics, twin displays (17" 1920x1200 and 10.6" 768x1280), 4GB RAM, dual disk (RAID) 160 GB drives, WACOM digitiser (pen included), Huey PRO colorimeter, fingerprint reader and the usual express card/bluetooth/etc.

The overall condition of the device is good to very good. There is one minor area of 'damage' to one of the grill pillars (see photograph). Additionally, the rubberised texture on the lid, common to all ThinkPad models, has some very small marks. This light wear is typical of this material but is in no way excessive for a machine of this age. Indeed, the laptop has had an easy life, never used away from home and looks great.

The laptop comes installed with Windows Vista Business and has a matching Certificate of Authenticity on the base. Original, genuine, Lenovo installation media is included for Windows Vista as well as Windows XP and Windows 7. No licensing key is included for the latter two operating systems and it would be for the buyer to arrange if they wished to install either of these.

The item is not boxed but included is a carry bag (hard to find one that comfortably fits this size machine without wheels!) and a lap tray to make using a laptop of this size more comfortable on the lap. The sale also includes a genuine Lenovo power adapter.

This is a rare opportunity to obtain a unique piece of computing history - For those that want a moveable workstation with a full size, comfortable keyboard and two displays this device is without competition!

The item is located in London, UK. I would prefer for the buyer to collect allowing an inspection before parting with money. This would also avoid the costs and inconvenience of posting a valuable/heavy item. I *may* consider posting - Please contact me if this is something you require.

Hello,

To help me read between the lines, are you suggesting the pricing is unrealistic, or...? I appreciate this is quite a niche machine which is why I have been trying to avoid eBay (that and fees, plus the horror stories that I hear!).

In addition, I was clearing out some other equipment at the weekend and found another keyboard that I can include with this. I cannot remember the details but the original keyboard was not as good as some older ThinkPads and I was advised to swap it over (brand new), which I duly did. The replacement is still installed but the original is included in the sale. Unfortunately, it being so long ago, I cannot remember the manufacturer of either.

My reply was a tongue in cheek response to all the conditional offers that won't amount to a sale. What you have is a very rare laptop. It is hard to even begin to think of a suitable price for such a machine. Whether 700 GBP is too high or too low a price is beyond me.

If there is genuine interest in shipping this please do make contact - I think it's clear so far that finding a buyer for a niche device is hard enough without having to restrict it further be stating collection from London (only). It's still my preference but I'm still keen to keep this away from eBay where it will be going if I don't get interest soon!

Buying British goods with the USD at the moment is actually extremely optimal, due to the Referendum and the value of the GBP at the moment. Before the Referendum, 700GBP would've been about 1100 USD, which I've found to be about a good price for a fully loaded W700DS (FX3700M, QX9300, Good condition). 700GBP is currently about 870 USD, which is a bargain... but you'd have to worry about international shipping, and insurance.

All in all, 700GBP is a good price, British or not. And it seems like this seller has taken care of his unit... and kept it in mostly original spec, which is also good.

Hope it all goes well, and that you do find a local buyer in London. I feel like for something like this, it would be the best way to sell it to someone else.
