IE6 gets tabbed browsing!

#1 Post by K. Eng » Sun Jun 12, 2005 3:50 pm

I use Firefox most of the time, but there are some sites that I absolutely must use IE for. IE is an ok browser, the the lack of tabs has been somewhat irritating.

Looks like MS is finally listening to people like me :)

To get the tabs, get the MSN toolbar:

I'm going to give it a try and post my results later!

Here are my results:

For a 7.5MB download, I got a 27.5MB install that added a desktop search tool and some other stuff. I quickly got annoyed with the search toolbar because it took up too much space in my browser window, and had all sorts of buttons that I have no use for.

The tabs felt a bit sluggish compared to Firefox.

I tried to rearrange the toolbar but when I locked all the toolbars, the MSN toobar would place itself below all the other toolbars and ignore my commands to stay with other toolbars.

After 5 mins of playing around with it, I decided to uninstall the MSN toolbar. Guess I'm sticking with Firefox. :?

And you'll be better off anyway. :) It's rare - and begrudging - that I use IE anymore. Hopefully that will become less and less as time goes on.

I was going to try it out too. Saw the 7.5MB download plus MSN toolbar stuff and stopped right there.

Firefox rocks.

Even if the reviews are positive, I wouldn't even bother switching back.
