Hi,
I'm trying to get my 19" TFT to work with Ubuntu Linux using a DVI-Connection. Using my T42 disconnected from MiniDock, Ubuntu runs just fine. Plugged in to the MiniDock, I get all the boot messages on my external screen but as soon as X starts up the external Screen has no signal and the laptop screen is being activated but stays black.
As hours of googleing didn't help at all I am pretty much stuck right now and would really appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance,
dh
External TFT (DVI, MiniDock) not working
I too am having the exact same problem.
Am not familiar enough with X/Linux but would really like to get this working, of course. Like dh, I get the boot messages (am running a Dell 2001FP (20" 1600x1200) until X starts up, then I have a problem.
This reminds me, I had the same issues getting my Linux workstation to "like" the same DVI panel as well (could only get it running at 1400x1050; workstation had an NVidia dual-head DVI card).

One more with the same problem.
I have a T42 and got my MiniDock yesterday. Getting the VGA connection to work was quite easy, but the image quality is horrible on my Samsung Syncmaster 213T (UXGA). No way to work with this blurry image. Maybe a better VGA cable would help, but I don't have one around yet.
Now I'm trying to get the DVI connector to work under Ubuntu Hoary, but no success yet. The behaviour is exactly as described by dh. After my screen blankens, I can switch to another console (e.g. CTRL-ALT-F1 , where X runs under CTRL-ALT-F7) and type cat /proc/acpi/ibm/video which shows me, that the DVI port has been enabled by the ibm_acpi driver. But I didn't get any further than this...

I am having the same problem
Hi, I am having exactly the same problem with my new thinkpad T43 and MiniDock. It works fine on Windows, but it does not work on Mandriva with ViewSonic VP171b when using DVI connector. I get boot messages but when X is about to start screen goes blank. Did somebody fix this problem?
Sergejs.
Sergejs.
There exists a patch written by Alex Deucher, but I don't know if it works or either how to apply it...
