T601f instant shutdown
T601f instant shutdown
Hello,
I've observed a strange system behaviour - while moving the laptop when on it instantly shutdowns for no reason. It can be turned on again only after removing the battery and installing it again.
As far as I remember I had the same issue with my T60p couple of years ago, but can't remember what was it.
My system specs:
T9500 w/Dual IDA
Middleton Bios
nvs140m
240Gb SSD
8Gigs of Hynix DDR2
clean W7 install; used it just a couple of weeks so far.

Re: T601f instant shutdown
When I installed a T61 battery in my T60, it would cause the T60 to shut down after finishing loading windows. Also, a weird battery I got from George will cut the power to the laptop after running for 20 minutes, and then needs to be reseated for the T61 mobo to power back on.
SERVICEABLE USED PART!
Does this behaviour happen without the battery? If not, then the battery is the cause.

Re: T601f instant shutdown
Issue is most likely the battery, as micrex22 stated. However, I haven't had any issues with swapping OEM T60, T61, and T500/W500 batteries with a T60 or T61. Other than that, maybe a short caused by a loose screw somewhere inside the case?

Re: T601f instant shutdown
I will try the battery. I've got a couple of them so this wont be a problem.
If this doesn't help, I'll take a look under the hood

Re: T601f instant shutdown
Had this happen once on a T61p that I bought for parts. The previous owner inserted a screw in the keyboard drain hole instead of the screw hole. A slight pressure in the middle of the keyboard resulted in a short and instant shutdown. Take screw out, place in proper slot and it works fine.

Re: T601f instant shutdown
My suggestion would be to check whether the CPU is screwed in properly, and that the heatsink sits as it should.
I wish that you would've communicated this problem to me when you first got the system, I would've found a way of getting another battery to you. Now, a year later, I've gotten rid of most of my machines and parts and have no batteries to spare...micrex22 wrote: Also, a weird battery I got from George will cut the power to the laptop after running for 20 minutes, and then needs to be reseated for the T61 mobo to power back on.

Reseated CPU and Fan; will try to observe the results.
