Looking at getting Refurbished T400/T410 for basic web surfing & facetime with Grandchildren.....Need Help for add-ons !
I bought refurbished T410 recently & I need help getting a webcam for both units below.... I'm very computer illiterate and also am seeking another T410 for my wife to have for same use....Her freebie sites, email, and writing reviews for products she is given to use & then write reviews. She needs the webcam much more than I do, so if we get another T410 or T400, what is the best choice that is simple to install & won't break the bank as we are now retired & I'm more conservative than when we both were in the prime of our career's (wife=health care/Pediatric nursing, me=business banking/personal finance) ? Hoping for a webcam application that is basic & is plug & play so to speak. Thank-you one & all for your help in advance & I pray I may be of some help as a way of thanking you for your knowledge & time spent assisting us with this webcam find & install.........

Welcome to the forum!
Your T410 may already have a webcam installed.
There's a sticker on the bottom side of the laptop, containing a production date (say 08/11), serial number (say L3-12345, don't post this one) and a 7-character model number that looks like 2537-RBU.
I'm interested in that last batch, all 7 characters of it, since it will reveal the original configuration of your system to the rest of us.

**Thank-you....I pray this is of support & the data is what you're referring to: 2522-25U
**Due to it being a Refurbished by a Microsoft Certified Provider, I didn't see a date
of manufacturing as you described.
-Thank-you for your insight & guidance !

I'd say maybe a 1/3rd of the laptops I have dont have a webcam... big corporate fleets often delete features to save a few dollars and/or it may be corporate directive... my time in the military saw many sans webcam. Your friend James Comey had something pertinent to say about this.
I would always suggest with a Microsoft or Logitech web camera for the support alone.

Always check the webcam's "System Requirements" and confirm it supports your operating system!TonyJZX wrote:I would always suggest with a Microsoft or Logitech web camera for the support alone.

After spending way too much time with a c920 from Logitech, I really loathe that stupid webcam.
If you want SkypeHD and for it not to gut the CPU with load... I'd strongly recommend the c930e, it also comes with a privacy cover. It has a built in H.264 encoder, way better image sensor, lense, and it's microphones do a great job.

If all you want is a webcam, get the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000.
Been using a few of those for years on various desktops and laptops, never a problem.
Using them almost daily for Skype.
Methinks even today there are none better...
