Back to my past!

#1 Post by schen » Mon Sep 19, 2016 9:30 am

Hello everyone! I'm back. It's kind of appropriate since I also recently have returned to the use of a "T Series" machine after a number of years of wandering through the maze of the X "halo" products running from the X300, to X301 and then the X1.

In the meantime, I was tied up teaching Advanced Placement World History with the responsibilities of being the department chair. On top of that, my school had blocked access to the ThinkPad Forum for some time as well!

So, now I'm back and endeavor to actively participate again!
Family Daily Drivers- T430s, T530, X220
Work- Sadly, the ThinkPads have gone away...... and replaced by HP ProDesk SFF drone machines :(
Other Projects- Edge 15, Z61m (Titanium)
Historic Retired ThinkPads- T42p, X20, A31p, 701c, 760XD, WorkPad C505

Makes me think Thinkpads have a large userbase in Academia.
x220/i7-2620M/8GB/256gb.ssd/ips/debian (main driver)
x230/i5/8GB/500gb.hdd+256gb.m2ssd/tn/debian+win7 (better half)

Just anecdotal evidence of course, but apart from the tradition Apple only users, I'd say that yes, there's a pretty significant group of ThinkPad users that I've run across. Of course, some institutions are traditionally ThinkPad universities such as the ones in the Research Triangle area, but others are commonly Dell universities such as many of the Texas schools for obvious reasons.
