T60, x1400 board; No MAC address string in BIOS information screen.

#1 Post by thinkpadcollection » Thu Sep 29, 2016 5:03 pm

As this subject line says, there's no MAC address and windows device manager does not show a ethernet controller or did not find it automatically either.

The board was from ebay and seller was not very so helpful while ago when I informed seller about this issue.
unit serial and other any serial data is present on the bios screen as well.

Will HMD utility fix this?

Cheers, thinkpadcollection.

I believe in the BIOS there's an option to enable or disable on-board Ethernet; check to make sure it's enabled then restart the machine :) (unlike T30/A31 generation and earlier, Ethernet is on the motherboard and not a daughtercard... if this doesn't help then it's likely a motherboard failure)
