I have old t40p IBM computer and I need it to make it 'thin client' for a short time.
I would like to ask you what would give me best performance.
In my t40p I have 4200RPM old hard drive (I suppose with bad sectors.)
I have MSDNAA program where I can get any Windows system from XP to 10.
I have lot of funny Linux distros but I suppose that would be better to have Windows due to RDP protocol specific features.
I have remote Windows 10 Pro computer and VPN over PPTP on network level. I can change it to OpenVPN for example.
That is very temporarily solution for 6-8 weeks maximum, after that I will use normal computer, and my old t40p goes on shelf
And I would like to use that as thin client - I am consdiering use usb 2.0 based port to make system drive without HDD. I will use that still on AC adapter, so the power consumption doesnt matter.
Currently I am thinking about usage Sandisk Cruzer Fit 32gb (totally new, and I can use it only for that if it got bad sectors after use) [http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sandisk-cru ... uId=559770] as local disk for Windows 7/or 10 -byut I am unsure about native performance of this old base computer.
Thank you for any advices
regards
