Access Connections under Limited User (Non Admin)

#1 Post by pj » Tue Jun 14, 2005 1:23 am

We have been trying to let users change between 2 profiles - LAN/Wireless LAN.

We have tried v3.3 and 3.71 but both seems to have issues.

Changing from LAN -> Wireless LAN seems to work but changing from Wireless LAN -> LAN always fails. The only way to resolve is reboot the machine.

Change between the 2 profiles works great as local admim.

We have checked the article: IBM Access Connections - Cannot create profiles or switch profiles in as a Windows XP Limited User

But have followed the steps but with no success.

I have been experiencing exactly the same thing since my Windows XP was upgraded to SP2. I have tried every version of Access Connections together with the latest version of the WiFi driver. No luck!

Hey PJ, hey ginsberg

I had the same problem but solved it some time ago.

There are tools called:
REGMON and
FILEMON
which you can download for free from http://www.sysinternals.com
These tools monitor any access to files and registry and show you where access was denied. It took me some time to get the applications started early enough and set the filters like "access denied" to work out which process is caught by missing rights. The applications offer a direct link to give the blocking process the needed rights. I remember that I've given three to four processes administrator rights.
I'm sorry that I can't tell you exactly which process needed administrator rights to run Access IBM smoothly. It is some time ago and there were other things that I solved with these tools.

Give it a try and good luck!!!
