Could use some advice about budget refurbished thinkpads

#1 Post by Clutch1988 » Mon Oct 24, 2016 11:56 am

Hey

So my laptop has packed up and I have been looking for a replacement. Unfortunately, I have a rather limited budget of around £200- £300. I understand that this isn't a great deal to spend, but either other financial commitments atm it's about all I can stretch to.

I had a look around at a few places, but it soon became apparent that for that kind of budget I would really be struggling. But, I was advised that a refurbished business laptop would give be far better value. I have had a look around and ebay is full of refurbished thinkpads sutch as this:

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAST-Lenovo-Thi ... nav=SEARCH

Or

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAST-Lenovo-Thi ... nav=SEARCH

I won't be needing a laptop for anything too taxing. General browsing, streaming TV, youtube, downloading the occasional film etc.

I was concerned that due to the age of these machines, they might be on the verge of being obsolete, however it seems that the spec is still stands up to brand new budget laptops?

If anyone has any advice on if they think that this would be the correct choice for myself, or have any suggestions which model to get and trusted vendors than I would be grateful.

Welcome to the forum.
Click on the feedback-number after the seller's name, then click on the Negative 69 under 12 months.
No way would I buy from him!

Your budget in dollars is US$244-366, in Euros it's €224-336.
Put a WTB (Want To Buy) in our Marketforum, once you have made up your mind about which Model you want.
If you get an X230, you can/should put in an X220 classic keyboard, to replace the horrible X230 chicklet keyboard.
This forum can also tell you how.
The X230 should be good for a few years to come.
