X201s i7-LM640 LV Motherboard FRU 63Y2074 upgrade to X200s

There is a batch of 63Y2074's listed on ebay for ~$40. Elsewhere $75 and up.

I am tempted to buy two and upgrade my (L9400) X200s's; I'm clumsy, but with diligent effort and some superglue, I can make my way through a Thinkpad reassembly.

Is there anything I should be wary of with this board (vs. 63Y2075?), or my plan to install in a touchpad-free machine?

It's very easy to break the rear keyboard bezel (I've done it).
Best way to remove it is use your fingernail to pop it up from the base.
Starting on the left side and working around worked best for me - don't try lifting up by the side arms.

I seem to remember another user doing this swap and he found the x200s I/O card didn't work with the x201s motherboard.
Something about the audio? Sent him a x201 card which solved the problem.

Not a difficult swap, have fun. Should be no need for superglue.

I'm interested in this upgrade, keep us posted! My L9400 is okay for what I do, but the extra power is always beneficial.

I purchased a nearly new X201 w/2.67 GHz i5 for my son as an upcoming Christmas gift. What improvements would this give me? I thought there might be weight savings or more battery life but, I did not see much in the Lenovo literature I downloaded. I should also be able to simply install a used i7 if I can find one on the used market which, should not be too difficult.

Now if I could just find or design a FHD upgrade for this...

Other than higher temperatures and shorter battery life with that i7-mobo, nothing to write home about.
The X200/X201 series have their CPU soldered, so you'd need to replace the whole motherboard, not worth it.
There is a WXGA+ (1440x900) LED-screen available for them, but no FHD.
If you want WXGA+, your best way is to transfer the complete lid from an X200s or X201s model onto your machine.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
