Configuration Utility released 2005-06-13

#1 Post by selvan777 » Wed Jun 15, 2005 3:13 am

When I try to install it, it says a more recent version of the program was detected.

I don't get it, the last time I updated my configuration utility was months ago.

I think that you have to uninstall the older version first.

Thing is it says I have a newer one. Besides, the install notes don't say a thing about uninstalling the previous, it's, (edit: the currently installed version) v1.40b (file name 1YU504WW).

I've sent an email to IBM regarding this, they probably have the site linked to the wrong file.

The info that I have says versions 1.30 or earlier. I interpreted the information to mean that you need to uninstall versions later than 1.30???

I uninstalled 1.34 on my X31 through IBM Access Install program. It also appears that I need to uninstall Battery Maximized and several other programs and reinstall the updated versions???

I don't suppose there's any harm in uninstalling first like you did but I'm quite sure v1.30 or earlier means all versions prior to the release of v1.30. Like v1.29 or v1.29a or v1.28.

Anyway, thanks for the replies. I'm not concerned, just wanted to share what was happening, I thought it was, and still is, weird.

Tonight, I ran the software installer again and it detected an update in my HD after updating itself. I ran it and this is what the install.log says:

[2005-06-16 23:14:45] IBM ThinkPad Configuration
[2005-06-16 23:14:45] SUCCESS : '1.40b'->'1.40b'

Rebooted and ran it again and it appended to it:

[2005-06-16 23:14:45] IBM ThinkPad Configuration
[2005-06-16 23:14:45] SUCCESS : '1.40b'->'1.40b'
[2005-06-16 23:26:39] IBM ThinkPad Configuration
[2005-06-16 23:26:39] SUCCESS : '1.40b'->'1.40b'

Looks to me like a mild case of the hiccups.

The 2nd, and probably last, reply from IBM:
