T42p - Num Lock issue

#1 Post by agarny » Wed Jun 15, 2005 4:45 am

I was wondering whether there is a way to get the ThinkPad to realise when to enable/disable Num Lock depending on whether the laptop is docked or not?

Indeed, no matter what BIOS setting I use, if Num Lock is on when my TP is docked, then to shut it down and restart it undocked will result in Num Lock still being on. From there, if I disable it and shut down the system and restart it docked, then Num Lock will be disabled. Etc. Rather annoying.

Anyone?

Cheers, Alan.

Solved...

well, kind of...

Indeed, I have written a small program that is launched when I log in into Windows. It looks up the IP address of my laptop and depending on its value switches on/off Num Lock.

This is all I need in my case, since the only time I use my docking station is at work and I have a fixed IP address there.

Anyway, it works nicely... 8)
