T60 - what is it worth

#1 Post by moosport2 » Sun Dec 25, 2016 11:03 pm

I have a T60 with T7200 CPU 3GB of memory.

Machine Type: 2623KFUL3AW329

Screen resolution is 1400x1050. Comes with IBM Thinkpad recovery disks.
Hinges were replaced by IBM when I first acquired it 8 yrs ago. The lid was rarely shut to prevent the hinge from wearing out.

I picked up a T430s to replace the T60. As it is lacking the power to host 1 or 2 VMs. Not to mention the memory limitation.
I have linux installed but I do have need to use a few Windows programs. Thus the need for VM.
it has never been dropped and 4 corners are scratch free.
What can realistically sell it for?

Welcome to the forum!

Your machine as it left the factory
T7200(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1400x1050 LCD, 128MB ATI Radeon X1400, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Verizon WWAN, Bluetooth/Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 9c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro
What you can get for it is anyone's guess in this subdued market, but it will likely be under $100, presuming a battery in good condition.

My $0.02 only...

I agree with ajkula66. I recently purchased a number of these for my wife's school. All came with Win10, mostly 2ghz processors, 2gb RAM, and varying HD capacities. Average "buy it now" price off eBay was $85.00 per machine with shipping.

Depends on what OS is installed, whether it has HDD or SSD, RAM quantity, Core Duo or Core 2 Duo, or if it is a plain T60 or T60p :) (SSD will fetch more than HDD typically, maxed out RAM will too)

If it's not a T60p, I wouldn't recommend spending over $100 on a T60... (something like an Intel T60 with an XGA screen would probably only be around $50ish, while a T60p + SSD + 3GB RAM + Windows 7 would be almost $200)

I'm selling as many T60p's for 200$ as you wish if you're willing to pay. Maybe with 240Gb+ SSD these are worth $200, but I can't imagine getting $200 for a non-IPS unit.

You're in $50-100 range; depends on the shape. Units in good cosmethical shape tend to be worth a little bit more. Generally getting anything above $120 for 14,1" T60/p is quite a deal.

The battery is still in good condition. The laptop is plugged in when in use without the battery installed.
Thus it never get a lot of charging cycles.
Currently it has a SSD drive installed. The original drive is installed with clean OS.
I'll throw it up on the marketplace forum to see if there is any interests. Thanks!

I would say $50 is for the base model (Core Solo & GMA 950 which overall cannot be compared with a T43 that has Pentium M 780 & X300 aside from larger RAM support and pre-sata-modded) or mediocre model with a not-so-good physical condition (Grade C). Since yours have SXGA+ display, SSD & good physical condition I would say around $80-90. If you plan to sell, sell it quick as these things were already deflated from around a bit more than $200 2 years ago.

Great advise from members here. Its a great machine during its time but progress has made it difficult to use certain programs
I posted the ad in the market place.
