Recase a X220 into an X220i?

#1 Post by T3f4l » Thu Jan 05, 2017 10:22 am

Hi All

I have a 2.8 i7 X220 that has seen better days but works perfectly, I also have an X220i which looks perfect but is dead, my question is could I swap the innards from the 2.8 i7 machine into the chassis from the X220i?

Yes. The X220 and X220i use the same chassis.

Won't work, since the machines have very different designs.

The X200 uses a 16:10 aspect ratio screen, while the X220 has a 16:9 aspect ratio screen.

I've started stripping down the X220 to recase it, I've ordered some new panels too to give it a spruce up too
