X201 hard drive cover screw question

#1 Post by TPFanatic » Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:37 am

Is the screw for the 44C9553 X201 hard drive cover a unique part? Can I use one of my T500 short or medium screws to hold a hard drive cover? I want to buy an X201 cover but I'd like to know if I need to buy a screw as well.

If you buy the HD-cover from a reliable supplier (even on eBay), it should normally come with a screw.
If not, you can also use the same screws that you use for attaching a caddy to a HD/SSD.

X201 proprietary HD bay cover screw

#3 Post by TPFanatic » Thu Jan 26, 2017 5:54 pm

I've discovered that the bay cover wants a proprietary screw. The same one for my Z60m's bay hatch works. I'd try a T4/R5x bay cover screw next if I could find one. The plastic clips alone hold it in ok without a screw but it'd probably disappear in a fall.
