Whitelist Removal BIOS link for T61p Type 6458-CTO S/N L3-P8503 15.4" widescreen?
Whitelist Removal BIOS link for T61p Type 6458-CTO S/N L3-P8503 15.4" widescreen?
I am upgrading the wifi card in my T61p Type 6458-CTO S/N L3-P8503 15.4" widescreen, and received an "ERROR 1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card" warning.
So, my upgrade is being blocked by the whitelist.
Is there a whitelist removal BIOS link for T61p Type 6458-CTO S/N L3-P8503 15.4" widescreen that will remove the whitelist on the 15.4"widescreen model?

You want Middleton's BIOS, the one where it says: T61, T61pR61 (14.1″ widescreen etc.

Hey RBS (I owe you beers...)
Thanks for the link.
But my T61p is the 15.4" widescreen* model. Will that BIOS work?
* I just editted the above posts to state "15.4" widescreen."

Jeez, guys, can't you READ? Have you no imagination?
It says T61, T61p and some other stuff where Middleton forgot to put in a comma, holy COW!

ti is tru, I cn't red. So, I looked at this:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Middleton%27s_BIOS
where the comma was actually properly inserted. And given that, plus my faith in your advice, I have since been unsuccessfully trying to unzip the Middleton's BIOS update for T61p to CD. And I have given up (because my burning to CD's has always been hit and miss) and I am now changing the boot order and trying to unzip to USB flash drive.
I awl lt ya no whn and f it wrks...

Success again with the Intel AC 7260 wifi card!
5GHz = 866Mbps baby!!!
2.4GHz = 144.4 Mbps !!!
Interesting (and this also happened with the X61 with the same card) although after flashing the BIOS I didn't get an 1802 Error code, the card was not recognized, so I went into Device Manager and there it was, and it was acting properly, and when I went to Update Driver it said it already had the best driver. So, I restarted the laptop again and it was recognized and worked fine on 2.4GHz.
But it would not connect on 5GHz. So I went to Thinkvantage Access Connections location profile for my 5GHz and it still had the AGN card in there for the adapter. So I deleted that location profile and then hit Find and found the 5GHZ SSID that the router was sending out and built a new Multi Access Connection location profile around it which automatically recognized the AC 7260 card.
And now all is good.
BTW, I ended up finding that Windows 10 has its own CD/DVD burning software which, once I red 'bout it, was easy to burn the 7lug26us.iso image to CD. One thing to remember it will cycle continuously unless you pop the CD out after the machine shuts down before it automatically restarts.
Thanks RBS!
And thanks ajkula66!

You're welcome.
I do not (and never will) have W10 so I don't have unzip or burn problems, since I always use:
- 7-Zip to unzip/unpack most any archived/compressed files
- ImgBurn for CDs
- Rufus for USB sticks
