X220 right click below spacebar not working

#1 Post by blink » Sun Feb 19, 2017 9:27 pm

Just picked up a used x220 & found the right click button just below the spacebar doesnt work.
I actually use it quite a lot so this is rather annoying. I am in the process of trying to negotiate either a return or part refund from the seller. What are my options can this 1 key easily be replaced if i can source one or would i need a whole new keyboard?
Thanks
Many Thanks for any advice, shared knowledge & wisdom is a wonderful thing.

You'll have to replace the entire keyboard, unfortunately.

The Trackpoint buttons are part of the keyboard, as can be seen in this picture:

As a last resort before ordering the new keyboard, it cannot hurt to try and clean this. So generally try to get as close to the contacts under the button as possible, blow some compressed air in etc. Often the contacts can get blocked by some barely visible piece of dust. Had that with my middle button and cleaning helped. regards
