Trouble with new IBM Bluetooth Software

#1 Post by T42p » Thu Jun 16, 2005 3:48 pm

I let the Software Installer Update my Bluetooth Driver. Since I did that, I have "My Bluetooth Places" on my Desktop and a new Symbol in the System Tray. However, when I turn on Bluetooth it doesn't use the new symbol which remains red but the old Bluetooth Symbol (the one from the Windows built-in BT-Sofware) reappears and I am not able to use "My Bluetooth Places" with that one.

Does anybody have a clue how to get rid of the Microsoft Bluetooth Software and use the one IBM supplies?

Thanks for your help!

HeyT42p-

What T42 model do you have and what version of the bluetooth software are you talking about?

The latest Widcomm software posted on the IBM/Lenovo site for the T42p is 1.4.3.4.

I used the bluetooth stack on XP SP2 for a few months. HID Mouse, HID Keyboard, OPEX/OPP and DUN-GW worked very well. Compared with Widcomm v1.4.3.4 and v4.0.1.700, Microsoft stack is far more stable and consumes far much less memory.

Unfortunately the Microsoft stack does not support FTP or Headset GW profiles.

I have a 2373-GVU and I am using version 1.4.3.4 of the Bluetooth Software. I very much dislike the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack and I wasn't able to set up my GSM Pocket PC as a Bluetooth modem for the Laptop with it so I really wanted to change. I also think the Widcomm Stack gives much more configuration options. Right now everythink is running absolutely stable.

I use the following bluetooth devices:

Keyboard
Mouse
Numberpad
Pocket PC
Headset

All of these can be in parallel use and I have no problems.
