T42p dvd burn questions

#1 Post by baobab » Thu Jun 16, 2005 6:20 pm

I have a T42p (2373-H16 = HVU) and am trying to burn data DVDs, so far without success. I'm using IBM RecordNow software and am attempting to burn to an (8x HP) DVD-R. The multiburner recognizes the blank media, but when I load up the files and hit burn it talks to the disc for a while, then comes up with a recording error. The disc becomes a coaster...

The multiburner recognizes and plays CDs and store-bought movie DVDs, I've also burned CDs in the past without a problem. I've tried using volume labels that consist only of numbers, underscores and capital letters; I've tried switching back and forth between the more than one recording / close after one recording option. Nothing seems to work.

I'm sure I'm doing something stupid / not doing something basic, but have searched the forums and haven't been able to find an answer that solves my problem.

Thanks for any help.

Does HP say the 8X disc work on 2X speed? Have you tried DVD-R media from other brands? Is your dvd burner running firmware 1.04?

If another brand's disc works and firmware is 1.03, perhaps you can try upgrading the dvd drive firmware.
