X240 Slow post

#1 Post by halap3n0 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 11:32 am

Hi all
I have an X240 which has an annoying problem. Actually I dont know whether it is just normal, but certainly no other Lenovo I have had has this issue.

When turned on, nothing will happen at all for about 25 seconds after the light comes on. This is when cold booting only, or resume from hibernate. Resume from sleep is fine. The suddenly the Lenovo logo will show up and it will start boot. I have tried everything I can think of:
- Reinstalled OS (Windows 7/8/10 all the same).
- Installed OS with secure boot enabled and disabled
- I changed the RAM (upgraded to 8GB from 4GB)
- Upgraded BIOS several times as later ones have come out

It has always had an SSD since I have had it (changing to another did not help), but I wonder if it is to do with non Lenovo SSD?

Otherwise anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. :D

Are there any devices plugged into any of the USB ports?

If you suspect the SSD, try removing it and seeing if it affects POST times.

Yes I will try removing the SSD. It does it with no USB devices attached at all.
