My new X270 arrived with an extremely flat Trackpoint cap that's very uncomfortable to use. The cap on my wife's X250 is higher and far more comfortable. Does anyone know the exact names of these two different cap models? I'd like to buy for my X270 the same kind that came with the X250, but I can't find any specific details anywhere.
Probably I'm not looking in the right place, but I've learned that this forum has all the answers. Thanks for any help.

Is this the cap you have?

If so, it looks like the older caps may not be compatible with it, due to the different-sized hole at the bottom. I haven't used any of the new Lenovos, but the comments are shocking. It looks like while we were busy ranting about the ruined keyboard layout, Lenovo actually went on to ruin the trackpoint.
I have a Compaq Evo N610c, which had come with low-profile caps, and the difference in usability between that and a standard old-style Thinkpad cap is night and day. Fortunately, that Evo could take a standard Thinkpad cap, but the new Thinkpads apparently cannot.
If yours looks like this, there may be hope:

Re: X270 vs. X250 Trackpoint caps?
Thanks for that explanation. It seems I'm OK with the "Low-Profile" caps, and have just ordered a set from Lenovo.
I finally did the simple experiment of swapping the caps on the X250 and X270, and they're fully interchangeable. I suspect that Lenovo now ships the lower-profile cap because people complained about the mark on the screen left by the normal model. But I'd much rather live with an invisible mark on the screen than the uncomfortable cap.

And the caps arrived, and transform the X270 into something usable:

Thank you again.
