ps2/usb adapter won't work

#1 Post by jarbill » Fri Jun 17, 2005 10:10 am

I'm trying to use a ps2 keyboard on my T43. I bought a simple adapter to convert it to a USB keyboard, but the computer doesn't recognize it as USB hardware. It gives me error messages that it's not recognized. It doesn't lock up or anything like that, but I just don't have the use of the keyboard.

I can't find any drivers for it, and there was nothing that came in the package with the adapter.

I even borrowed another adapter from one of our IT guys and that one didn't work, either.

Does anybody have any suggestions or know why it doesn't work?

Thanks.

I just got one from my local RadioShack that I'm using on my T43 as I type this:

http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... Fid=26-226

I plugged it in and it came right up, no extra disks or drivers required.

That did the trick. I went to Radio Shack and got the part and plugged it in. Voila!! I'm in business.

I sure don't know what the difference is between the two except for the little doohickey on it.

Thanks for the tip.

Do you experience any weird key combos being recognized incorrectly? On my ps2 -> usb adapter, somethings certain keys aren't read correctly in all situations (like directional arrow keys don't work through an SSH terminal, and ctrl-(some random key here) doesn't always function).
