newbie x220 screen upgrade
newbie x220 screen upgrade
Can I do an upgrade to the X220 screen I have? My current screen is a LP125WH2SLB1 (FRU 04W3462). I've been Googling around and just cannot get a grip on what screen, if any, would be an improvement. So many different model numbers.
Could someone dumb it down for me please?

Re: newbie x220 screen upgrade
Depends on what you're looking for. It seems you already have an IPS screen already. Is there a particular issue you want to address, is viewing angles, resolution etc?
There's a full HD mod kit made by nitrocaster on here but i don't think it's available at the moment. With a kit like this, you'll be able to fit FHD panels in place of the low res existing one. Other than that, you're limited to choosing another screen of the same resolution as your existing one.

Thanks guys. I think the Full HD kit requires soldering yes? So that's me out. Think I'll try the LP125WH2-SLT1 screen then since it's recommended by that user "RealBlackStuff" and he's pretty much a legend on this forum!

Is your existing screen already an IPS one? You might not notice any real benefit from the replacement unless you are having some problems with your own screen (i.e. white spots, ghosting etc).VanZan wrote:Thanks guys. Re: newbie x220 screen upgrade
I use the LP125WH2-SLT2, which is the LP125WH2-SLT1, but with the mounting holes in a useless position.
It's a nice upgrade from the stock TN screen I was using.
