X201 new than / warm processor and crash system

#1 Post by newgarf » Sun Apr 23, 2017 4:14 pm

Hello everyone (from France :-) )

Hello, my old fan was worn out, and was no longer working.
Or rather it no longer cooled at any moment the processor.

I changed it by a new one.
When I installed it, I noticed that when I turned on the computer, the fan would not start, I had the error message error.
I breathed in, and it went away.
I had a doubt about this fan; So I ordered a second one.
This one worked even worse, it turned only intermittently, while the other at the start turned at least continuously.

Si i keep the fist fan.

Today I am locked again.
Regularly, the processor rises, the computer stops.

I installed Tpfancontrol, I do not see much difference, in manual mode to 7 the processor is still at 50 ° Celsius.

I am under windows 7 pro, 4 GB memory

I'm starting to have a doubt, is this a problem related to motherboard, or graphics card, or is it the fans that are not actually compatible with my lenovo x201?

thanks for reply

Did you put in any proper thermal paste between CPU and heatsink? Probably not...

Hello
yes, i put thermal paste.

i buy new one specially for this purpose

i just have the sensation, that by moment, the fan stop or slow down

by using, tpfan control in manual mode, i have the feeling, that fan is forced to run all the time at maximum speed
so how to setup it into windows or Bios ??

best regards

Sounds like something went wrong with the re-pasting. Check your temps with HWMonitor. When CPU temps reaches 90+ deg C, it's going to crash. The fan speed will kick in and out depending on temp. Also check your Windows power management settings. A X201 is runs fairly cool and quiet. Something is went definitely wrong during fan replacement and/or CPU re-pasting.
