X220 KB Lights

#1 Post by nxsh » Sat May 06, 2017 12:32 pm

My X220 is working perfectly apart from the lights on the keyboard not functioning (green power light, caps lock, mute etc). I can still use these buttons but it's frustrating using the caps lock as I can't tell if its on or not. Has anyone ran into this issue before? Thanks

Not on X220, but on other systems I most certainly have...these are some of the possible culprits:

a) Blown fuse on the motherboard

b) Loose/defective/dirty keyboard/planar connection.

I'd try another keyboard and see whether anything changes.

Good luck.

Thanks! I have tried a few keyboards and ran into the same issue, looking at the motherboard I feel like one of the keyboard connector pins is out of place but I am really hoping it isn't.
Will I need a complete new motherboard if this is the issue? Or can I replace the connector myself?
