T430s w/ 65W adapter

#1 Post by ThorOfAsgard » Tue May 09, 2017 3:15 pm

My T430s came with a 90W adapter, but I also two extra 65W adapters. Can I safely use the 65W adapters with the unit? It has Intel HD4000, so no discrete graphics to support. But in my searching for an answer, I read some comments about the T430s possibly having some sort of rapid charge battery that required the 90W. No one seemed very certain about anything, though.

If it doesn't have discrete graphics card, 65w would be the correct charger. You can use either 65w or 90w. If you have a thinkpad that has discrete graphics and you use a 65w power supply. It will display a message saying your computer requires a 90w charger and that performance will be decreased while charging.

Thanks. I hooked up one of the 65W chargers and it seems to work fine, although a bit warmer than the 90W. Too be expected, I suppose.
